Well, for the rest of us, here we go.
The space race adventure has just one character in Smash since the first installment, Captain Falcon, user of one of most infamous moves in the series. But for some reason, he is still the sole representative of his franchise, can this change?
If one count F-Zero by itself, having just one character in every game gives you a dreadful trend, just one forever. But putting him in the “Retro” group is sad, and unlike Mother, this franchise isn’t “dead”…just “dormant”, waiting for a good idea (or gimmick) to implement in a new game… And then, maybe getting a new character of the franchise could serve as publicity for the game, or in reverse, getting a new character may increase the interest for a new game… a win win situation right?
Black Shadow: Let’s be honest here, he could get a really cool moveset, but almost everyone wants him to get the current Ganondorf moveset and give Ganondorf a new one. That might work, for Ganondorf, but it might create the same problem for this horned villain.
Goroh: The honorable Samurai thief could get upgraded to a playable character, and maybe this might be a good time. I mean, he has been in the game since Melee’s intro. He could be a heavyweight speed demon, with good reach with his katana and some samurai moves (like judo grabs), I mean, there are a lot of swordsmen, and no one uses a katana…
Blood Falcon: Another possibility is to get a “clone”, it has worked for Zelda, Star Fox, Fire Emblem, Mother and Kid Icarus. What could possibly go wrong?… In all seriousness, he could get an original moveset based in brute force and cheap tactics, with more combo potential than the Cap, but with even less defensive alternatives.
Jody Summer: She would be an interesting character, quick and with easy follow ups, but nimble, representing the stats of her vehicle, the White Cat. Even more, she isn’t just a racer pilot, but a fighter pilot, so she could get some guns and stealth tactics.
