We decided to provide a summary and our thoughts on the latest Pokémon Sun and Moon news!
Summary:
Sun Legendary Solgaleo- Physic/ Steel- Sunne Pokémon- Since ancient times, Solgaleo has been honored as an emissary of the sun. It is referred to with reverence as “the beast that devours the sun.” Solgaleo’s body holds a vast amount of energy, and it shines with light when it’s active. It has a flowing mane with a remarkable resemblance to the sun. Its signature move is Sunsteel Strike, an attack that charges at an opponent with the force of a meteor, disregarding the target’s Ability. Solgaleo’s Ability is Full Metal Body, a new Ability that no previous Pokémon has had. With the Full Metal Body Ability, a Pokémon’s stats will not be lowered by the effects of an opponent’s moves or Ability.
Moon Legendary Lunala- Psychic/Ghost- Moone Pokémon- Since ancient times, Lunala has been honored as an emissary of the moon. It is referred to with reverence as “the beast that calls the moon.” Lunala is constantly absorbing light and converting it into energy. With its wings spread to absorb the surrounding light and glittering like a crescent moon, it resembles a beautiful night sky. Lunala’s signature Moongeist Beam attack releases an ominous beam of light that disregards the target’s Ability. Lunala’s Ability is Shadow Shield, a new Ability that no previous Pokémon has had. With the Shadow Shield Ability, a Pokémon will take less damage from an attack that lands when the Pokémon has full HP.
Look at Region- 4 main islands (1 being the one from first trailer), 2 small islands, building/boat in middle of it all.
Look at Customizing
Professor Kukui – Islands’ professor. Takes care of the Player.
Lillie – Professor’s Mysterious Assistant. She doesn’t care for fighting Pokémon, but she will play a major role in the story. Likes to read.
Hau – Has a big appetite, becomes friends with the Player immediately after the player moves to Alola. Loves Malasade (the local food).
QR Code – Can scan to find out more information about Pokémon, which will help you find out where to catch them.
Rotom Pokédex – Will act like a guide. Will offer suggestions based on who you talk to, and point you in the right direction. Very few trainers on Alola have a Rotom Pokedex.
A bit of new information has been released, at least enough to hold us until E3. Nothing earth shattering, but still good to get a better look at how this game will play. The biggest shock is definitely the Rotom Pokédex. With Rotom acting like a guide, it seems like the Sun and Moon will be even easier for younger audiences to grasp. The Japanese trailer makes Alola look interesting, and I look forward to running across the many beaches.
The information released today is less than I was hoping. No new Pokémon were really revealed besides technically the legendaries. However, I think the game looks really good! Dunsparce in the promotional image for the QR code scanner gives me hope that maybe he is getting a true evolution. And can we talk about how Rotom just appeared like an RKO outta nowhere? This man just popped up. Not that I have a problem with it. But I certainly didn’t see that coming.
A lot of fleshing out on prior news and concepts, as well as a detailed look at the new Pokémon guide, the Rotom Pokedex. Still very excited for Moon, and Lunala and Sungaleo being confirmed means interesting things in regards to the copyright information from earlier this year. Pokémon is looking streamlined and I love it.
I’m actually surprised we didn’t get a new Pokémon. Also semi-surprised by the fact that we didn’t get much new information. But at least the Rotomdex is really cute. Looking forward to the first “talking” Pokémon in the main games. The cast looks also fine. The only thing that really surprised me is the new QR feature. First, I thought it would be a feature to catch new Pokémon since I only saw the promotion artwork. This could have been a huge deal for fans AND the Pokémon brand. The Pokémon Company could earn a HUGE amount of cash with product collaborations and it would be a good way to connect the games and and real world from a commercial standpoint. Unfortunately, it’s already confirmed that it will the QR Code only provides players with information. Very backwards thinking and a missed opportunity for the Pokémon brand, but who knows. Maybe it’s more useful than I thought before.
I’ll be honest, I wasn’t particularly moved by any of the news(except the Rotom Pokédex, I find that quite amusing). Lunala being Psychic/Ghost kinda sucks considering I want the Moon version but that ability is quite good. Characters are fine. When will we see the fully evolved starters?
while it makes sense to focus on the new legendaries – which, to be fair, are pretty cool, particularly Lunala – I’m far more excited for the region itself. A wide variety of topography, gorgeous visuals befitting the Hawai’i inspiration, and a different kind of island chain than we’ve seen previously? It’s really nice, and I’m sure people will be pouring over each part of the world map or the shots in trailers to get a better look at how it works. Even the mechanics of movement and environmental design seem less tied to the series’ 2D roots than ever, though I will have some forlorn nostalgia for them. The Rotom ‘Déx is also really interesting, suggesting a more advanced or elaborate way for Pokémon to interact with people in the world.
I’m still pleased with the less-chibi designs on the overworld. Hopefully we see if further customization (beyond initial trainer choice) is available at E3 : )
Also, a small typo with Solgaleo, which says “Physic” instead of “Psychic.”
Not much new info, but at least Link won’t be alone at E3.
I’m in no rush for Pokemon info at the moment as long as some of the new information does not get leaked, then I am satisfied. Both type combinations for the legendaries are interesting as one is weak against fire and both are weak against dark two of the types when you initially thought of these Pokemon.
I couldn’t watch the video in real time since I needed to go to work early in the morning (and I’m working at the Honolulu Airport), but as I watched the video after I got back home, everything was great with interesting points. Not much new things were introduced though, but still everything was pretty interesting.
The Alola region’s full map was wonderful. At least the main Oahu modeled island wasn’t the only region which everybody was complaining a lot. I knew there would be more of course as I live in Hawaii. Now we got the Hawaii (Big Island), Maui, and Kauai modeled islands, everything’s now getting interesting!
I pretty much knew the names of the legends since it was already leaked throughout Youtube and some unofficial Pokemon sites like ぽけりん (Pokelin). But the types were something unexpected. Solgaleo is Psychic/Steel, while Lunala is Psychic/Ghost…well, that’s odd. I can understand Psychic because it’s usage sometimes refer to space in some ways, but I don’t understand why Solgaleo doesn’t have Fire which represents the sun, and why Lunala doesn’t own Dark which represents night. It doesn’t make any sense. But of course, some legends like Lugia for having Psychic even it’s called the God of the Ocean, there are types that doesn’t make any sense, and its not something new either. But still, they could’ve chose types that would make sense. But at least this proves that there’s no new types added nor 3 paired types in this game, which can be a bummer though.
We’ve already knew who Kukui was as he’s the main professor, and it’s good that the rival(?) is named Hau than Hoku which people seemed to be calling him that way, but Lillie is something that I was fully surprised of. SHE’S SO DAMN CUTE!!!!!! XD Her cuteness have struck my heart instantly!! And definitely I could’ve died right now if she had a tsundere personality too. (lol) But what’s this her description being a mysterious girl? Could she be the REAL rival? A champion? A member of the evil team? A former member of the evil team but escaped and hid herself in Kukui’s place? Or possibly be a Pokemon disguised as a human? It does sound similar to N’s case, but time will tell.
The Rotom Pokedex is another stunning thing I’ve ever seen. Not just Rotom has become your navigator, but it can talk too! And I do see it being cute too. (lol) But would this mean we’d be getting Rotom as our Pokemon too? Or would that be out of case as he’ll just simply become a living navigator tool? I thought we weren’t suppose to treat Pokemon as tools? ………oh well, NEXT!!!
Finally, the QR codes content is another interesting thing I’ve seen. There was this game called “Barcode Battler” back in Japan, so this thing kinda reminded me of that part. At least this didn’t say “only QR codes from Pokemon related products only”, which means you can scan any QR codes like ad posters, product labels, and even if possibly Yo-kai Watch’s medals too! I could try test the Yo-kai Medals if it’ll work since those have QR codes too. (lol)
I was hoping for more new Pokemons and one of the new gym leaders for this video, but sadly none of them were introduced. I hope they’ll introduce it in the next update. Since they’ve announced that it’ll come to E3 (it’s not ONLY Zelda anymore!), maybe we’ll hear more from that if possible. On the other hand, I think I shouldn’t rely on the Koro Koro magazine anymore since their information is too dull and lame as they don’t show anything as they’ve deceived us like TWICE now; and I think they’re more supportive on Yo-kai Watch than Pokemon now these days. But anyways, this new information was good with few new information, which I would hope for more on probably next month.
