TN: Actually, there were three blog posts before this one, but they’ve already been translated: Trophy Gallery, Battle Stages, and Techniques You Should Know 1. That link actually has parts 1 and 2, but…oh well. Anyway, here’s his fourth post: items!
Items
Posted 7.26.2001
Items, which can be used uniformly by every character, add energy and fun and showiness to the game.
This time, I wanted as many items as possible to come from a game.
There are a lot of items that were scrapped, and I’m sure that number will only increase, but I’m trying my best.
This time around, you can catch items in midair. (R+A in the air)
Target items that fall slowly, like the Heart Piece, and snag them while they’re still airborne!
You can also catch items that your opponent has thrown at you.
Items also have their own trophies, so even if you don’t know where an item comes from, you can read the trophy description.
I want the game to be able to answer any such questions you might have. No blind spots.
Haha.
Although when you include the characters and stages, we’ve only shown you the tip of the iceberg so far.
This is one game where I’m not worried about running out of stuff to show.
But if I reveal everything, I feel like when you get the game it won’t be as cool.
(although that’s what happened with Smash 64)
Oh, and we still have the Item Switch, don’t worry.
Oh, items. Who doesn’t love ’em? …Well, I don’t, actually. Regardless of whether you like items or not, if you want to support us, check out our Patreon!

For a second I thought the ending said that Sakurai didn’t like items, lol. Made me question if he was the real Sakurai… 😛
