Hello! We are working very hard on translating the Melee website. We decided to ramp up our translation focus on the character introduction pages in order to give everyone a better picture of Melee, and its character. Special thanks to soma for providing assistance with this translation.
All comments were originally written by Sakurai himself. You can see Sakurai’s individual picture comments by hovering your mouse over the image. Originally pictures were given their own page, but for the sake of brevity I combined them. The original page can be accessed here. Translator notes are marked by [TN].
Zelda:
Updated: November 6th, 2001
What’s this? Sheik transforms into Zelda!
No wait, Zelda transforms into Sheik!
Zelda is the character that is placed on the character select screen as well as other places.
Basically, Sheik is part of Zelda’s moves!
Although you might say they are essentially two characters.
When compared to the fast speed but low knockback of Sheik, Zelda has slow speed but her magical attacks are explosive and strong.
Based on the battle, please use them properly.
However, both have the disadvantage of being lightweights.
That’s right. Let me say it just in case.
Zelda is the princess from the Legend of Zelda.
Link’s name is never Zelda.

1.She finally takes off the veil! Zelda!
2.Din’s Fire. A small but controllable fireball. Once the button is released, it explodes.
3.Farore’s Wind. Since it uses powerful magic, she can move very far when compared to other teleporting moves!
4.Zelda has a lot of attacks which are made stronger with magic.
5.Naryu’s Love. Has the effect of a reflector + deals damage around Zelda.
6.Lastly, Transform. Continued in the previous entry.
